After being pollinated, the female flowers of the urapán develop in the form of nuts, elongated and flattened, technically known as samaras. These fruits have the seed stored at one end, while the other has the shape of a flattened wing, which helps them fly and be dispersed by the wind. The fruits are falling, rotating in a circular way, like the propeller of a helicopter. Hundreds of these fruits are found fallen on the ground under the urapans in the fruiting season and it is entertaining to pick them up and throw them from elevated sites and watch them fall spinning like a helicopter propeller.
